Big Short Monthly Comedy Contest accepts submissions of short films of all genres - fiction, documentary, animation and experimental comedies. The films must have been completed after January 1st, 2018 and their runtime must not exceed 20 minutes. Commissioned works made for advertising or PR purposes are not eligible.Films that were previously shown at Big Short Monthly Comedy Contest or films previously rejected cannot be submitted again.

All films must be presented in their original version with English subtitles.

Awards & Prizes

Each month for the films selected to the program we offer:

- selection certificate

- selection laurels

- offline screening in Lviv, Ukraine

- online screening on the territory of Ukraine in Big Short online cinema

Each month for best film selected by the viewers digitally we offer:

- winner certificate

- film review on https://wiz-art.ua/ 

- selection to the yearly competition consist of 12 shorts and possibility to win $500 award

Submission / Deadline

The entry form for every film must be completed and submitted online by the 17th day of each month.

Submissions for the next month open 18th day of the month.

The festival does charge a submission fee. All fees are non-refundable.

Notification

The festival confirms submissions by an automatically generated email after receipt of a valid preview copy. We kindly ask you to refrain from calling us to inquire about the receipt of your material. All applicants will be notified via email about the selection or rejection till the last day of submission month. The selection committee’s decision to select or reject a film is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Once a film is selected for the Big Short Monthly Comedy Contest, it can no longer be withdrawn.

With the application, the applicant confirms that they possess all rights necessary for the screening of their film at a film festival.

Big Short Monthly Comedy Contest is granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for screening at the Contest for promotional purposes.

Films are screened last week of each month and are available for 4 days. If there are some restrictions based on pandemic, films are screened only online.
