Under the motto Realms of Phantasies, the Ukrainian Film Festival will take place from October 7 to 17, 2021 in Berlin and Stuttgart as a hybrid on- and offline event.The aim of the film festival is to present the young Ukrainian auteur cinema to the German audience. The focus is on films with a strong authorial position and a high artistic value. We want to give a voice to contemporary Ukrainian filmmakers and change the perception of Ukrainian culture by showing its dynamics, diversity and originality. The festival promotes equal access to cultural resources and equal opportunities for personal development for people with visual or hearing impairments. The films of the festival program are also available with audio descriptions.

Andriy Suleiman fled with his family from his home in Syria to Ukraine, from one war zone to the next. One uncle makes it to Germany, another stays in Iraq, a third in Syria. The film unfolds from the eternal alternation of war and peace, traces sharp contours and lets them blur again.
